I read a lot

I saw this over at Seeking Solace’s blog, and I figured that I just had to take the quiz. the results are below, though the graphic didn’t work our right. Whenever students come by my office, they are amazed at how many books I have around. Of course, I have about as many, or more, at home, too. One friend even suggested that if I were to just put all my bookshelves on exterior walls I wouldn’t need to insulate the house! But, what really amazes people is that I actually use these books. Granted, some of them have not been off the shelves in years, but I will occasionally need to look something up in a book that I have not looked at in years. It is a lot simpler to do that in my office rather than treking across campus to the library. Besides, I often have specific books in my office that are not in the library and are even tough to find via interlibrary loan. But, I don’t just read astronomy and physics things. I am an avid science fiction reader, too. I just lament not having time to read as much as I’d like.

    Hey Astroprof!

I took the test, and I was a “Literate Good Citizen,” which means that I read for info or entertainment only (which basically describes me).

    PS

Good to see you back! These Carnival of Space posts can work some evil on the bandwidth/traffic sector.

A good problem to always have I guess.

My husband has many physics, engineering and programming books that one just can’t find. It’s amazing that he still uses them too. Some are a little faded, even the highlighted sections!
