Delta rocket explosion

This is a video that I found on YouTube about a Delta rocket exploding on launch.
In the early days of rocketry, the rockets tended to explode a lot. It happens less often today than it did in the early days, but it does still occur. That is why they launch these things from places far from people. The Cape Canaveral Air Force launch site, where this was launched, was selected in part because the cape sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean a bit from the rest of Florida. Rockets were (and still are) launched from the site arching out over the water, so that in the event of such a failure, the debris lands in the water. If the rocket were to go off course, there’d be a lot of margin for error. This rocket, like many before, exploded before it got very far. Again, that is why the launch pads are remote.
