Firefox add-ons

Normally, I blog about astronomy and space topics. However, earlier this morning, I was reading Aviatrix’s blog and saw this posting about Firefox add-ons. I use Firefox almost exclusively. I have gotten to where I like the interface, and it is simply easier for me to use than Internet Explorer. Also, my site looks better in Firefox. That’s one reason for the Firefox link on the lower left sidebar. For some reason, IE tends to do things that other browsers do not (I occasionally check the site with IE, Opera, and Netscape). Firefox also seems to have better security and pop-up blocking capabilities. The one problem is that it doesn’t work well with Microsoft sites (hmm … ).
At any rate, Aviatrix posted about an add-on that changes the title from Firefox to something else. When I first ran it, the title was changed to Suncrab. Now, it is saying Searat. OK, so this is totally useless, but that is why I am posting this under the “amusement” category.
But,
that wasn’t all. I also added a new theme for my Firefox browser. It is the NASA theme. This theme is quite simple and may appear rather plain to those who are used to some of the more elaborate Firefox themes. However, I’ve always been happy with the default theme, so it is new to me. I may keep it, or I may eventually go back to the default. But for now, I like the novelty of having a new look to my browser. Hmm. If I were good at writing code and knew what I was doing (and had lots of time!), then I might try writing an Astroprof’s Page theme. But, for now I’ll be happy with the NASA themed look.
