I am in the middle of grading final exams and assigning final grades. In addition, I’ve had more than the average number of problem students (and students with problems) to deal with, so I’ve had no time for blogging.
However, I got a phone call that the Space Shuttle was taking off live on TV. I knew that it was being ferried across country piggyback on its 747 carrier aircraft, and knew the airbase where it had landed. Knowing the direction of the wind, I knew the direction that it would take off, and knowing where it had to head, I guessed that it might be visible from campus. So, I grabbed the camera in my office and ran out to the parking lot to scan the horizon to get a picture. Sure enough, it passed close enough to campus for me to get the photograph that I am posting here. Click on the photo to get a screen sized view.
Now, back to grading papers and assigning final course grades!
