Airshow

This weekend there was an airshow near where I live (so close that you could hear the jets if you were outside). Well, yesterday I decided to take a day to just have fun, so I went to the airshow. It was as interesting as such things always are. However, the crowds sort of put me off. I don’t like it when it is so horribly crowded (over 100,000 people the paper said this morning). I really like aircraft, and going to something like this always makes me wonder if I might not have been happier had I chosen a career in aviation. Of course, I like astronomy, too. So, perhaps I should have been an astronaut. Actually, that was what I wanted to be when I was a child.

Anyway, I took over 130 photos at the airshow. I can’t put them all here. Also, I am posting from home, and my home computer is really slow at uploading photographs. So, I reduced the images to fit easily. I have much higher resolution photos that I can post later if anyone is really interested. As you can tell from the photos, the Thunderbirds were performing. But, there were lots of other aerobatic performances. One nice thing that I rather liked was a flyby of a formation consiting of a P-47, F-15, and F-16. That was an interesting sight. There were lots of static displays, too, and I am including a photo of a B-52. For some reason, I rather like them. Perhaps it is because most of them are about as old as I am! American Airlines is based here, so they sent some aircraft, too. They had a Boeing 767 there, and there was an amazingly long line of people waiting to walk through it. I never figured out why, though. But, they also had a DC-3, and that I decided to take a peak into. I have interior photos if anyone is interested. That is far more historic than the 767!

I know that this isn’t astronomy, but it’s my blog, and I do have other interests!

So, enjoy the photos!
