Here are some photos that I took of tonight’s lunar eclipse. The Moon rose while coming out of eclipse for us here in Texas. These pictures were taken from the campus using a Nikon D70 and 300mm lens (except for the wide field, and that was a 100mm lens). I cropped the last photo. Enjoy!

I’m a big fan of your RSS feed, many thanks for the updates and articles.

It would be great if I could use your right ascension and dec article on our astronomy scoiety website. Would this be possible?

I am happy to share my work. I only ask for credit. At the very least, just say “courtesy of Astroprof’s Page” would be nice with a link back to this site.

[…] Almost a year ago, we had a lunar eclipse with the Moon rising eclipsed and coming out of eclipse after it had risen. I posted some photos that I took of that eclipse. There was another lunar eclipse about five and a half months ago. For that eclipse, the Moon entered eclipse and was totally eclipsed as viewed from here. I posted photos of that one, too. One of my readers, David Breadsell, though, got a nice series of photos of that eclipse from beginning to end. This time, we are having a big public eclipse watch, so I may be too busy to take a lot of cool photographs. […]

Here in South Africa the moon was setting with the eclipse. I was covered in fog this morning at about 5 AM local time, but there was an earie orange glow from the moon and of course towards the east there was also an orange glow from the sun rising. Was looking for pictures from SA. (its still summer here in the southern half of the world!)
    Thanks for the pictures
